When lash extension newbie Natasha Kundi came to visit...

London Lifestyle blogger Natasha Kundi came in to our Holborn salon to see what all the fuss is about in September 2023. Read on to find out Natasha’s eyelash experience as a lash extension newbie!

“Eyelash Extensions have become a popular beauty trend, offering an easy way to achieve fuller and more alluring lashes. Having recently experienced an eyelash extensions service, I’m pleased to share my thoughts on the transformative effects and overall experience.

From the moment I walked into Balleza Natural at 7 Bell Yard, London, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Rose, the technician was attentive and took the time to discuss my preferences and desired outcome. This initial consultation helped alleviate any concerns I had about the procedure, as well as ensured that my desired style was understood.

The application process itself was surprisingly comfortable. I laid on a comfortable bed, closed my eyes, and the technician worked meticulously to attach individual synthetic lashes to my natural ones. The procedure was painless and surprisingly relaxing, as soft music played in the background. It took around two hours, but the time passed quickly as I drifted in and out of a light nap.

Upon opening my eyes, I was genuinely amazed by the results. The extensions looked incredibly natural, seamlessly blending with my own lashes. They added a subtle yet significant depth to my eyes, making them appear larger and more defined. The best part was that I woke up looking effortlessly put together each morning, saving me time during my daily routine.

The care instructions provided were clear and easy to follow, helping me maintain the extensions’ longevity. I was advised to avoid oil-based makeup removers and excessive rubbing of my eyes. With proper care, my eyelash extensions lasted around three weeks before needing a touch-up.

While the initial cost of eyelash extensions might seem a bit steep, the convenience and confidence boost they provide make them worth it. The maintenance appointments every few weeks do add up in terms of time and money, but for special occasions or those who prioritize a polished appearance, they’re a game-changer.

In conclusion, my experience with Belleza Natural was highly positive. The service not only enhanced my natural beauty but also simplified my daily routine. If you’re looking for a way to achieve stunning, low-maintenance lashes, Belleza Natural Eyelash extensions are definitely worth considering.”

New to the treatment menu… HALF SETS 😍

A half set with brown lash extensions

This is a brown half set we did (brown lashes are great for naturally fairer lashes and keeping things natural)

So, what are half sets?

✨A half set of lashes means having only half the number of lashes compared to a full set. However, this doesn’t mean that the impact of the treatment will be less.

Why half sets?

✨ A half set is a nice alternative to a full set of lashes, achieving a similar effect with fewer lashes. It can enhance the thickness of natural lashes or add length to the outer edge for a more noticeable look.

✨ If you’re new to semi-permanent eyelash extensions and uncertain about the desired fullness or style, a half set is a great starting point. It allows you to become accustomed to the life of lash extensions. Additionally, opting for a half set saves time.

✨ Choosing a half set is an economical choice as it costs significantly less than a full set.

In summary, a half set of lashes is a fantastic introduction to semi-permanent lashes. They are adaptable, time-saving, cost-effective, and definitely worth considering!

The best lash extensions for your eye shape

It can be tempting to see lash photos and want that exact style and shape - but it all should be tailored to your natural eye shape and natural lashes. When choosing lash extensions, it's important to consult with a professional lash technician who can assess your natural lashes and recommend the best length, curl, and style to enhance your natural eyes and beauty. All the various styles can be done in either classic (individual), hybrid (a mix of volume and individuals, or volume (light volume to medium to dramatic volume). Read on to find out which lash extension shape would work with your eye shape…

Do you know which eye shape you have?

1. Almond Eyes

The most common eye shape, almond eye shape has a slightly upturned outer corner and a tapered appearance. Almond eyes have a natural lift which can make them appear more awake. All lash extension shapes suit this style eyes so feel free to experiment with what suits you: be it the doll shape, cat eye shape or natural eye shape. The C, CC or D curl works well - depending how curly your natural lashes are.

2. Rounded / Doll Eyes

Characterised by a more circular appearance, round eyes can have a more open and larger appearance. You can often see the whites of the eyes above and/or below the iris. To enhance the beauty of the round eye shape, a cat eye or natural shape (where the lash extensions gradually get longer towards the outer ends), will create more of an almond shapes illusion.

3. Hooded Eyes

Hooded eye shape refers to an eye shape where the eyelid has a heavier or drooping fold, giving the appearance of less visible eyelids. Sometimes hooded eye shape can be the result of natural ageing (or lifeing as Pamela Anderson calls it), or could be genetics. Jennifer Lawrence and Blake Lively rock the hooded eye shape. Cat eye shapes can help create a more defined look. The doll eye shape can also counteract the droopiness and help make the eyes appear more awake and open.

4. Deep Set Eyes

Deep set eye shape refers to an eye shape where the eyes are set deeper into the eye socket, creating a more prominent brow bone and a shadowed appearance. Embrace your deep set eyes, as they can create a captivating and mysterious look! You could opt for longer lengths and go for a doll eye shape to open up the eyes. A cat eye shape would also work well. The key here is length!

5. Downturned Eyes

For down turned eye shapes, there are lash extension styles that can help lift and open up the eyes. An upward CC or D curl can counteract the downward slope of the eyes, making them appear more lifted and balanced. Doll eye lashes are shorter at the inner and outer corners and longer towards the middle. This doll shaped style gives this eye shape a lifted and more open look. Cat eye shapes should be avoided.

Hybrid Lash Extensions - The Lowdown

Hybrid lash extensions are the latest buzzword for lash technicians, lets find out why!

There’s been a lot of interest (and confusion) about the hybrid lash extensions - so I thought I would take the time to clarify what they are, and whether it’s as glam or as natural as you need. They’re super popular; and for all the right reasons!

eyelash-extensions-ibiza

So before I go into hybrid’s, it’s good to understand a bit of lash terminology first.

Individual lash extensions are the classic technique, with one lash extension placed on one natural lash. As with all the techniques (the individuals, volumes and hybrids), there are various lengths, curls, and thicknesses for a bespoke look to work with your eye shape and natural lashes.

The volume lash extensions, also known as Russian volume, are multiple extensions, from 2-6 extensions, on one natural lash. You might have heard the term 3D lashes - this would mean 3 extensions on one natural lash. 2D is 2 extensions on one lash, 4D is 4 extensions, etc etc… These volume lashes are ultra thin, and weigh the same amount as an individual lash extension. So cause no extra weight.

So now onto hybrid, hoorah! Hybrid lash extensions are a 50/50 mix, half individual 1 to 1 classic extensions, and the other half volume lash extensions.

Hybrid lash extensions give the best of both volume and individuals - offering a denser, thicker look than the individuals, but a less uniformed and softer look that is achieved with volumes.

Hybrid's are great for clients who have natural gaps or fine lashes - as the volumes can hide these sparse areas you may have. At Belleza Natural, your natural lashes are always taken into consideration when deciding the best look and style for you - knowing what your natural lashes can support so you continue to have healthy happy lashes all the time :) No need for breaks!

You could go for a staggered, spikey look (often known as the Kim Karsadhian look) or go for a shorter more natural whispy set. Here’s an example of a hybrid set I’ve done recently.

Celebrity eyelash extensions - Hollywood's hottest trend.

You may or may not have noticed, but actors, singers and other celebs live for their eyelash extensions! Feeling more glamorous with long, luscious lashes, eyelash extensions have become a huge trend all over the world and of course Ibiza. Let's take a look at 6 celebrities who rock their eyelash extensions:

Kim Kardashian

The 'Kim Kardashian look' is actually a 'thing' in the eyelash extension business. A mixture of classic and volume lashes, with varying lengths throughout to create a 'spike' look. Only suitable for strong natural lashes who can take this fuller, glam look.

Katy Perry

Whether Katy's shopping for her fruit and veg, or on stage - she always looks on point. And eyelash extensions are her secret. Katy goes for the doll shaped look - longer lashes in the centre of the eye, with volume extensions, C curl.

beauty-blogs-girls-in-the-beauty-department-0420-katy-perry-eye-makeup-close_bd.jpg

Beyonce

The singer says 'she wakes up like this' - and technically she does, because eyelash extensions mean you look glam from the moment you wake up!

Screen Shot 2018-04-29 at 19.32.19.png

Selena Gomez

Selena goes for volume over length, as we know that a shorter length creates the illusion of thicker eyelash extensions. Selena's eyes are smaller and almond shaped, so she sticks to a more natural length with a cat eye shape.

Screen Shot 2018-04-29 at 19.34.49.png

Jennifer Lopez

Jenny is the queen of glam - and her eyelash extensions enhance this look. Jennifer loves the cat eye look - to emphasise and maximise her almond shaped eyes.

Obsessed with eyelashes? How to make them last longer...

eyelash-extensions-ibiza

Belleza Natural Eyelash Extensions

How incredible your eyelash extensions will look after leaving your treatment is 90% about how you maintain them with lash extension care.

We all know cleaning oils and bacteria off of our eyelash extensions can help them to last weeks longer, yet so many people are afraid just the opposite will happen. Every day I have lash clients tell me that they are afraid to clean their lashes, or that they feel cleaning the lashes actually makes the extensions fall off sooner.

Like anything, confidence is key. I will in detail show you the three easy steps to maintain and clean your lash extensions. You will see that not only do they last weeks longer, they will feel softer, less itchy, and more comfortable overall. Cleaning is so important because our lashes can get bacteria, and even mites if we do not take care of them. It won't matter if your mega volume lashes are on point if you have a stye or eye infection!

Oil is the enemy of lash extensions because it causes the adhesive to soften and clump up. So keeping natural oils from lids and fingers at bay is just as important as using oil free products near the eye area.

You can gently pat dry with a regular towel just be careful not to pull because the lashes can sometimes get caught on towel. Just do a gently pat in this case, or use a blow of the hair dryer on a cool setting.

1. No water for 24 hours. no steam for 48 hours (this includes hot streamy showers or baths). You can have a shower just keep your head out of the water.

2. Avoid getting any products on the lashes that contain oil or glycol as well as saline, or salts.  If you sweat heavily rinse with water or oil free make up after your workout. Same goes for crying.  Try and use eye drops that are saline free, if you are someone who needs eye drops.

3. When removing your eye makeup (liner, shadow, etc.), gently go over the area with a Q Tip instead of placing cotton pads or puffs over your lids—not only could you eventually weaken the extensions and mess them up, the cotton fibers get stuck on lashes. (Not cute). Or use your fingers and clean and rinse in the shower.

4. Use either water or oil free eye make up remover. Baby shampoo works wonders!

5. Brush lashes regularly with a clean mascara wand. Close one eye, place the wand on top of your lashes, then roll the brush over lashes to keep them defined.

6. Resist playing with them. Your eyelashes shed naturally, so when you have extensions, this will help push them off. If an extension looks out of place, avoid playing with it or twisting or pulling it off—you'll risk losing your natural lashes. Let them come out on their own, and use a wand to brush them back into place in the meantime.

Are you guys obsessed with lash extensions like I am ;)

How to keep your eyelash extensions clean

eyelash-extensions-ibiza

If you've had eyelash extensions before, you'll be familiar with the aftercare of not getting the lashes wet for 24 hours. But some people take this advice a little too far, and don't get them wet at all ever - gross!

Some people may notice a build up of gunk (dead skin, old make up, oils) on their lash line - then of course this needs to be cleaned. Clogged lashes can be unhygienic. Also, if the lashes are not clean when you arrive for your next lash appointment - the technician will spend more time cleaning them which eats into your precious extension application time. Dirty lashes can potentially create a shorter life of extensions as oils build up on the lashes causing them to fall out sooner.

So how should you keep your lashes clean... It's usually ok to clean the lashes just with water. Oil free eye make up remover is great to remove make up also. Just be sure to not use cotton wall buds or face wipes - the fibres will pull at the eyelash extensions. Also face wipes are full of oils. I recommend using a Q Tip (ear bud) that's damp with water, and gently stroke along the lash line.

It could be useful to use baby shampoo and lukewarm water if you notice you need to clean your lash line more thoroughly. With your finger tips, work the foam right into the lash line, rinse, pat dry and allow your lashes to dry naturally.

All these methods can be incorporated into your daily skincare routing. If you're in the shower, try to avoid putting your face directly under the shower stream.

Clean your lashes every day or every second day, and be sure they're squeaky clean before your next lash appointment. Simple and quick ways to keep those lashes healthy and the eyelash extensions lasting for longer.

Booking Policy

When booking an appointment, we will require your full name and contact number. For new lash extension sets, or brows, please arrive on time (allow sufficient time for parking). Please do not bring friends or children with you to your appointments.

Cancellation Policy

If you have to cancel or change your appointment, please do so ASAP. We need at least 24 hours notice. This ensures that we can offer your appointment time to somebody else.

Failure to give us less than 24 hours notice of a cancellation or reschedule will result in a 50& upfront payment for your next infill.

We also send a confirmation text and/or email the day prior to your booking. If we do not receive a confirmation from you the day of your appointment, your slot may be given to another client.

Arriving Late

Your appointment time is meant especially for you. If you are late, we may have to cut your treatment short so it does not affect the next client.

Remove make up

For lash extension services, please remove all eye makeup with an oil-free remover or mild soap prior to your appointment.

Don’t come sick

Because your lash artist is so close to your face throughout the lashing process, avoid coming in with a raging illness. If you cancel and reschedule in time, your lash artist will understand. If it’s absolutely necessary to get your lashes done, wear a medical mask to stop germs from spreading.

Shower before

Not only does showering before your lash appointment ensure that you smell super fresh while in proximity with your lash artist, it shows you can follow the after-care instructions. Any lash die-hard knows how critical it is not to get your extensions wet after application. It will make your lashes last longer and show your lash artist you really appreciate their work.

Communicate

Your lash artists won’t be able to achieve your dream lashes unless you tell them what you’re envisioning! Tell them if your prefer long, short, full or natural lashes. Make sure to listen to their opinion as well. They are the experts and will know if a desired look is damaging to your lashes.

The Do's and Dont's of Eyelash Extensions

Belleza Natural believes that there’s more to eyelash extensions than just application, which is why I've created this blog to explore the ‘Do’s & Dont’s of Lash Extensions”. Proper care is essential for healthy eyelash extensions. With proper care, you can prolong the life of your lashes, maintain proper hygiene, and keep your beautiful lashes healthy.

After you get your lashes done, follow these steps to keep lashes healthy:

DO – Cleanse lashes daily using an extension safe cleanser

DO – Use a clean mascara wand to comb through and groom lashes daily

DO – Use oil free cosmetics and face wash to avoid breaking down bonds

DO – Use extension safe mascaras

DO – Follow advice of lash artist or professional esthetician

To maintain the utmost health and integrity of lashes, we recommend avoiding the following:

DON’T – Get lashes wet within 24-48 hours of application

DON’T – Come in contact with heat sources such as saunas, fires or BBQ’s

DON’T – Pull or twist lashes.  This can cause your natural lash to fall out

DON’T – Use heated curlers on synthetic lashes, this can cause melting

DON’T – Forget to remove make-up or skin oil residue daily

DON’T – Remove eyelash extensions yourself

DON’T – Attempt to apply lashes on yourself
